Jupiter is a very fascinating object when viewed through a telescope with a large aperture lens.More than the planet itself its four large moons are even more interesting since they keep changing positions on a regular basis.Sometimes 2 moons are on either side, sometimes all 4 are on one side and sometimes none can be seen since they go behind the planet. This hide and seek pattern makes them very interesting to watch. I used to keep watching them every weekend through my small 60mm refractor and it was really fun to see them moving about. I also found Saturn intereting though it was a smaller object. The planet would keep changing its position on its axis so one could get a view of its rings at different angles.I could also see the planets shadow sometimes as it fell on the rings. Have you, dear friends seen these 2 objects through a telescope? Comments please.
I always wanted a telescope since my childhood. Now,telescopes are very expensive and the cheap ones are not worth buying as they can spoil ones eyesight. It was only in my 39th year that i finally managed to get my hands on one. I went to work in one of the Gulf countries in 1983 and after working for a year i managed to save quite a bit of money. One day when i was passing through the market i saw a telescope displayed in one of the shop windows. I immediately went inside with my friends and enquired about it, the price and specifications etc. It was reasonably priced and of Japanese make. It was a 60mm diameter refractor and for a novice like me, perfect. I also bought a pair of binoculors of Pentax make which were pretty good quality and again reasonably priced. Now i was the proud possessor of 2 astronomical devices and i spent6 years in happy night sky observations. When i finally returned to my country and city i found that the sky was no longer conducive to observation because of heavy pollution of light and other things. so sadly i sold the telescope to a friend but have still retained my binocs. What about you my friends, do you...
The Hubble space telescope is one of the most successful scientific projects ever attempted but for most of us the stunning, unforgettable images it has returned have opened our eyes to the wonders and mystery of the universe. This is a video I put together to showcase some of those images.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Q-HMf1qSLIreturned to my country and city i found that the sky was no longer conducive to observation because of heavy pollution of light and other things. so sadly i sold the telescope to a friend but have still retained my binocs. What about you my friends, do you have a telescope? Let me know and if so how you are using it?
Many of us dream to become astronauts when we are young, but few ever realize that dream. Atleast have you ever watched the night sky using a telescope? Do you own a telescope or did you see it from any of the museums or science laboratories?
You should really try it atleast once. It is a really magnificent to see the night sky using a telescope!
Hello somebody!
I am interested to discuss about stars, galaxy, planet, other body heavens and about astronomic instrument. To many years ago I try to see by field glass object and planet or moon. But the image is not clear. But now today I have a best instrument a good telescope and the image by stars, planet and satellite in very nice.
And now my friends from anywhere tell me your story about your astronomy hobby.
I interested because I want to create a online club about this hobby!
Have a nice day,
FLORIN from ROMANIAreturned to my country and city i found that the sky was no longer conducive to observation because of heavy pollution of light and other things. so sadly i sold the telescope to a friend but have still retained my binocs. What about you my friends, do you have a telescope? From the early days I have dreamed of owning a telescope. I wished I climb up to a tower and see the stars. The place I lived when I was little was out of big cities and sky were really clear and full of stars at nights. Me and my boyfriend wish that we get a telescope as a gift for our wedding day!returned to my country and city i found that the sky was no longer conducive to observation because of heavy pollution of light and other things. so sadly i sold the telescope to a friend but have still retained my binocs. What about you my friends, do you have a telescope? I am interested in photographing the night sky, mainly the moon, and I was wondering if any of you out there have had experience with photography with a telescope? I have searched online, but am unable to find exact, straightforward information, and would like to hear it from someone who has done it.
I had a neighbor who used to share her telescope with me whenever some big event like an eclipse, a meteor shower or something else occurred.I remember also looking through the telescopes on top of the Empire State Building when I was a child and seeing lines of bright yellow cabs all waiting for their fares... That sight was amazing to me.Have you ever looked through a telescope at the sky?
What did you see?
Have you ever looked through a telescope at a scene below you or in the distance?
